Immaculate Conception BVM Church

Soup Kitchen

The Soup Kitchen was founded as a joint ministry by the Catholic parishes of York City more than a quarter century ago under the leadership of Msgr. Thomas Brenner, then pastor of St. Patrick Church. Its first location was the basement of Cristo Salvador Church on South Street, and then moved to its present location, next to St. Mary's Church on South George Street. It is jointly supported by dozens of churches in York County.

The Soup Kitchen serves between 200 and 300 hot and healthy meals a day to the many people who come, whether their need is physical hunger or the mere desire to not eat alone.

Once a month parishioners of St. Mary's Church prepare a meal, usually spaghetti and meat sauce, which is delivered to the soup kitchen to be served to the kitchen clients.

Volunteer schedules are prepared months in advance, but to be placed in the volunteer pool, please call The Soup Kitchen: (717) 848-1674.

Monetary donations are always greatly appreciated. Please send all donations to: 331 S. George St. York, PA 17401.
